How to share contact details without handing over your phone

Make the invitation explicit

Say what you are offering before presenting a device: "Would you like my work profile?" The recipient can then choose whether and how to open it. This is clearer than moving a ring or screen toward somebody without explanation.

With Ping Ring, the intended format is an NFC profile share. Apple's documented background tag flow shows a notification that the recipient opens, keeping the final navigation action on their device.

Offer more than one path to the same public page

A QR code can present the same public URL visually. Google documents creating a QR code for a page in Chrome, but you can also use a reviewed code provided by your profile service. A direct link in a mutually chosen message channel is another fallback.

Test that every method resolves to the same canonical profile. Avoid putting confidential data in the QR payload or URL. The sharing method may be visible to cameras, screenshots, forwarding, and browser history.

Keep possession and control separate

Each person should retain their own unlocked phone. Let the recipient decide whether to save, message, or close the page. Do not reach into their address book or assume opening a profile means permission for ongoing marketing.

If none of the methods is comfortable, exchange one agreed contact detail verbally or write it down. The goal is mutual clarity, not forcing a particular technology into every interaction.
